Remembering Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein

Two years ago yesterday (August 28), the music industry lost one of its own in Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein at the age of 36. DJ AM was found in his New York City apartment where officials say the DJ and producer passed away as a result of drug intoxication. The Philadelphia native got his start as part of rap and rock outfit Crazy Town before doing work alongside Will Smith, Madonna and others. DJ AM was also a disc jockey to the stars, playing private events for some of the biggest names in entertainment.

DJ AM and drummer Travis Barker have been forever linked after the pair – also known as musical duo TRV$DJAM – amazingly survived a 2008 Learjet crash together. The two were also part of the house band for the 2008 MTV VMAs rocking out with Katy Perry, Lupe Fiasco and LL Cool J. The Blink-182 drummer remembered his friend and collaborator DJ AM today in a series of moving messages from his Twitter account.

“R.I.P. 2 our brother DJAM.2 years ago 2day we lost a great friend & DJ. Never forget all the good times/shows we had.U are missed my brotha!” tweeted Travis Barker earlier today. Barker added, “2night's show is dedicated 2 Adam/DJAM.There will be a tribute video 2 honor his legacy during our set. 2day is a tough one 2 say the least.”

Travis Barker also urged fans to get familiar with DJ AM’s music by visiting his website to pay tribute. “Go to www.DJAM.com & download his music if you already haven't and blast that sh-- in your car or crib for our homie. #DJAMLIVES.”

Rest In Peace, DJ AM. via Rap Fix
