Erykah Badu Shuts Down The D.O.C.’s Reality Show Plans

Famed R&B songstress Erykah Badu doesn’t plan on starring in her own reality show with former lover The D.O.C. any time soon.

Earlier this month, the gangsta rap vet and longtime Dr. Dre associate told LA Weekly that he recently reconciled with Badu, who is the mother of his seven year old daugher, Puma, and began living with her, and her other two famous children –Seven, her son with Outkast rapper Andre 3000 and Mars, her daughter with Roc Nation signee, Jay Electronica. This gave him the idea to shoot a reality show about his experiences there, which he dreamed would culminate in him marrying the eccentric singer on the series finale.

Badu however, has denied any plans of such a show, issuing a statement to the Dallas Observer saying that her involvement with The D.O.C. does not extend past their daughter.

“Erykah Badu and The D.O.C. share parental responsibilities for their daughter and their relationship as it regards that aim is very good,” Badu’s rep, Paul Levatino said. “However, that is the full extent of their personal involvement and no romantic dynamic exists between the two. Moreover, Erykah has no plans to marry or have any sort of courtship with the D.O.C. Ms. Badu has no plans to allow a reality show to be filmed in her private Dallas residence or to include any of her children in the filming. Ms. Badu has no concrete plans further than a guest appearance in his reality show. The D.O.C.’s comments were either taken out of context, improperly interpreted, or reflective of his now, not-so-secret desires. Whatever the case, Erykah wishes D.O.C. well both spiritually and professionally.” —Martin Spasov for XXL
