Video: Dwight Howard D-Bo style KO of Big Baby...

The Eastern Conference finals turned scary late in the third quarter of Game 5 between the Boston Celtics and the Orlando Magic, when Celtics forward Glen Davis caught a nasty errant elbow from Dwight Howard after the Orlando center's layup attempt was blocked by C's guard Nate Robinson. From the Associated Press:

Davis was struck in the face by [Howard's] elbow, tumbling to the court as play went the other way. Davis tried to get up, only to fall again, and then was clearly dazed when he got to his feet.
He took a few more steps, then staggered toward [referee Joey] Crawford, who wrapped his arms around Davis to keep him upright as play stopped with 9.7 seconds left in the period. Davis was tended to on the court for a few minutes, then walked to the Celtics' bench and eventually toward the locker room for evaluation.

Celtics team physician Dr. Brian McKeon diagnosed Davis with a concussion, according to ESPNBoston.com's Chris Forsberg, and the third-year player out of LSU did not return to the game. (WEEI.com's Paul Flannery wrote that he also thought he saw Davis lose at least one tooth, which was later confirmed by ESPN's Rachel Nichols.) Via Ball Don't Lie

50 Cent Loses More Than 50 Pounds For Movie Role

50 Cent fans were shocked when images of the now-gaunt rapper were posted on his website, ThisIs50.com. The Queens superstar lost a dramatic amount of weight for a movie he wrote and stars in called "Things Fall Apart," in which Fif plays a football player diagnosed with cancer.
"I lost 54 pounds for it," 50 said of his role, inspired by a friend of his who died of cancer. "I was starving."

50 reportedly dropped down to 160 pounds from 214, while also losing 6 inches from his waist. He ditched his muscles during a nine-week training session, comprised of a liquid diet and daily walks on a treadmill for up to three hours.

Tony Yayo spoke to MTV News recently about his boss' dedication to his burgeoning acting career. "50 doesn't party, he doesn't drink. For his new film, the guy was, like, 130 pounds," Yayo said. "He was running from the airport to the hotel. And I was like, 'Man, he has the three D's: desire, determination and [direction].' "

This isn't the first time 50 has lost weight for a movie role. Two years ago, during an MTV News interview, the rapper spoke about shedding his muscle mass and growing out his hair, into a mini-afro, for a part in "Microwave Park." Via MTV.com

This particular AJF 12 combines the Obsidian/White/French Blue Air Jordan 12 with the styling of the Nike Air Force 1. As expected, the upper features obsidian blue leather, with white textured leather wrapped around the toe. White is also seen on the laces, while french blue works on the inner liner, trim, tongue branding, and heel tab. Obsidian and white once again combine to make up the midsole, which sits atop a white outsole. These fusions are slated to hit retailers, like Footlocker, on August 28th. Via Sole Collector

Nike SB Dunk Low – Katsuya Terada Sample

Japanese illustrator Katsuya Terada designed these sample SB Dunk Lows for the 2004 Nike White Dunk Expo in 2003. It’s said that only 12 pairs exist, and this pair in Terada’s size has just turned up on eBay. The upper features red patent leather on the toe, midfoot, and heel, as well as red suede that fills in the toe box, quarter panels, and borders the ankle. Red works on the leather Swoosh and midsole. Orange gets in on the act, seen on the leather inner liner and mesh tongue. Offering a bit of contrast from the red and orange shoe is a gum rubber outsole. If you’ve been putting in quality time mowing lawns and recycling cans, you can scoop this sample pair from croatianstyle on eBay. Via Sole Collector

WTW: Sheed changes shoes for the first time in a decade

As far as I knew, Rasheed Wallace(notes) was born with a pair of tiny Nike Air Force 1s on his feet and a headband on his head. So to say that I was surprised that Sheed was wearing a different shoe at the beginning of Monday night's Game 4 would be an understatement. You could describe my face as Irene Pollin-esque.

Instead of his trademark AF1s, Wallace started the game wearing a pair of white Nike Zoom Sharkalaids, a hybrid sneaker worn by the likes of Deron Williams and Rudy Gay this season. According to Sole Collector's Nick DePaula, it was the first time in more than 10 years that Sheed had taken the court in anything but Nike's first air-soled basketball shoe. Truly the end of an era, people.

Apparently confused by the extra strap and comfortable padding, Sheed changed out of his newfangled shoes and back into some all-white Air Force 1s for the second half of the game. Changing shoes mid-game is the new trend in Boston, I guess.

Just to make sure people were aware that he was the same old Rasheed Wallace they'd always known and loved, Sheed made sure to get a technical foul in his AF1s. Such a thoughtful guy.

UPDATE: A Sole Collector commenter notes that Sheed wore the Nike Air Sensation for the first half of his first game with the Pistons. However, Wallace was disqualified at halftime because the league's paperwork was not completed. Ergo, the streak stands! Via Ball Don't Lie

Shannon Brown with the greatest missed dunk of all time?

Midway through the fourth quarter of an otherwise anticlimactic Game 1 between the Suns and Lakers, Shannon Brown realized he'd disappointed just about everybody in this year's dunk contest. Hoping to make up for it, Shannon tried to replicate Dwight Howard's famed Superman dunk from 2008. During a game. In traffic.

Even though he missed, that totally gets a "wowee we wa" from this guy. The miss was so good that people immediately started calling it the best missed dunk of all-time. You be the judge. Either way, I'd offer up that this missed dunk provided some of the most amazing pictures in the history of dunking. Via Ball Don't Lie
