50 Cent's 'Things Fall Apart' To Debut At Miami International Film Fest

Rapper/filmmaker 50 Cent's new movie film Things Fall Apart will make its world premiere next week in Miami during the Miami International Film Festival.

Things Fall Apart stars 50 as "Deon Barnes," a football player for Michigan, who one day hopes of making to the NFL.

His plan goes off course when he realizes he has cancer.

50 Cent lost over 50 pounds for the role, by sustaining himself on a liquid diet during a nine-week period.

"Things Fall Apart was a true collaboration between 50 Cent and director Mario Van Peebles," MIFF Executive Director Jaie Laplante told AllHipHop.com. "50 Cent's physical transformation combined with Mario's vision for the film kept the story fresh, gritty and powerful. Fans in Miami will have a unique opportunity to see the film well before the rest of the world does."

According to Fif, who produced the movie through his Cheetah Vision Films with partner Randall Emmett, Things Fall Apart is based on a true story about one of his friends.

"I had to discipline myself not to actually have myself be in the physical state to convey the energy I felt,” 50 Cent told the Associated Press. “It's a passion project for me.”

Mario Van Peebles directed Things Fall Apart, which also stars Ray Liotta and Lynn Whitfield.

The film's world premiere will be at the Gusman Center in Miami on March 5th. To purchase tickets, click here. Via This Is 50
