Nike Dunk High GS ‘St. Patrick’s Day’
It’s common for Nike Sportswear to issue holiday-themed colorways, even several per, but it’s equally UNcommon to see the same style carried over from occasion to occasion. But that’s exactly what’s going on with this new Nike Dunk High GS for St. Patrick’s Day 2011. These tonal green plus white Dunk Highs for kids are crafted in the same style as the GS Valentine’s Day edition, offering the holiday’s signature symbol in green-on-green atop the patent leather overlay sections. Do we wanna see a pastel pair with bunny rabbits or Easter eggs come April? No word yet on those but just based on where we are in relation to St. Patty’s, these gotta be hitting retailers soon. via mita sneakers & Sneaker News

Cool Kids Strike New Deal; Earn 100% Of Profits On New Album
(AllHipHop News) Chicago Hip-Hop group The Cool Kids have struck an innovative deal with Mountain Dew's record label Green Label Sounds to release their highly anticipated first official full-length album, When Fish Ride Bicycles.
The group, which consists of Chuck Inglish and Mickey Rocks, will drop their full length on Green Label via iTunes, with all of the profits from the release going directly to The Cool Kids.

"They agree with our purpose; they support our sound and they just want to see it happen - no BS," group member Chuck Inglish said in a press release, while Mikey Rocks commented that he liked having a "hip platform to put our album out while having the creative control that we require to make something crazy."

The Cool Kids will hit the stage on March 18th, during Green Label's showcase at this year's SXSW music festival in Austin Texas.

50 Cent's 'Things Fall Apart' To Debut At Miami International Film Fest
Rapper/filmmaker 50 Cent's new movie film Things Fall Apart will make its world premiere next week in Miami during the Miami International Film Festival.
Things Fall Apart stars 50 as "Deon Barnes," a football player for Michigan, who one day hopes of making to the NFL.
His plan goes off course when he realizes he has cancer.
50 Cent lost over 50 pounds for the role, by sustaining himself on a liquid diet during a nine-week period.
"Things Fall Apart was a true collaboration between 50 Cent and director Mario Van Peebles," MIFF Executive Director Jaie Laplante told AllHipHop.com. "50 Cent's physical transformation combined with Mario's vision for the film kept the story fresh, gritty and powerful. Fans in Miami will have a unique opportunity to see the film well before the rest of the world does."
According to Fif, who produced the movie through his Cheetah Vision Films with partner Randall Emmett, Things Fall Apart is based on a true story about one of his friends.
"I had to discipline myself not to actually have myself be in the physical state to convey the energy I felt,” 50 Cent told the Associated Press. “It's a passion project for me.”
Mario Van Peebles directed Things Fall Apart, which also stars Ray Liotta and Lynn Whitfield.
The film's world premiere will be at the Gusman Center in Miami on March 5th. To purchase tickets, click here. Via This Is 50

Patty Mills talks about his controversial heritage
Blazers guard Patrick Mills is often described as the latest in a reasonably long line of Australian players in the NBA that includes Luc Longley, Andrew Bogut and Andrew Gaze. It's a new, growing hotbed for hoops products, and Mills is helping to raise the sport's profile in the country.
The reality of Mills' heritage is much more complicated, though. As noted in an excellent profile by Matt Calkins in The Columbian, the story of Mills' mother is tied to one of the most terrible moments in the history of Australia:
"Unless someone asks me, it's not a subject I talk about much," Mills said.
The subject pertains to his Indigenous Australian heritage, more specifically his Aboriginal mother, Yvonne, who as a 2-year-old was taken from her mother along with her older brother and three older sisters. The abduction was part of a national effort led by the Australian government and church missions to remove Indigenous Australian children from their homes and assimilate them into white culture.
It is now classified as "The Stolen Generation," and Yvonne was a textbook victim.
"That's the chip I carry on my shoulder," Mills continued. "Not just being an Indigenous Australian, but knowing that my mom's side of my family never got to see me play."
It's a terrific piece by Calkins, so please click on the link above to read the whole thing. You can also read more about the Stolen Generations here. Via Ball Don't Lie

Be Positive – Brogue Nappa
The Be Positive design label has been combining athletic comfort with time-honored classic designs for some time now, so this Oxford-styled upper with what looks like an Air Max 1 midsole shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Not exactly an Air Max 1 outsole, but you get the point. Be Positive had the same idea when it took a Macropus and Air Woven-like upper and attached the visible cushion bubble to the lower end of the construction when it first debuted. From up top, it looks like a dress shoe, ready to go with any suit or matching ensemble, which is probably what Be Positive had in mind – supreme comfort without compromising style. These have started to hit retailers in Japan like Tokishirazu. Via FRESHNESS & Sneaker News
Nike Air Royal Mid Lite VT QS – Summer 2011
Nike Sportswear debuted Vac Tech molding on last year’s Air Royalty ‘Macarons Pack’, and its remained a staple for that model and its cousin ever since. Here’s a new set of Nike Air Royal Mid Lite VT Quickstrikes that makes a new use of this unique construction, with the end product something like a pair of Royal Crocs. The one-piece molded body is covered from midfoot to heel in huge perforations that’ll make these among the coolest and most breathable sneakers on tap for summer. Via X-kicks & Sneaker News

Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke by Koizumi
If these were a GR, Uptown enthusiasts might find their heart skipping a beat, but in comparison to some of the others we’ve seen, this latest Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke is relatively tame. This pair was configured by Koizumi and just like Nike Sportswear‘s favorite Far East influencers, this design offers a glimpse of brighter days to come. The teal suede upper is so lush and soft that when paired with pink accents, you might mistake these for a fresh tuft of cotton candy. Via Sneaker News
Nike Dunk Low VNTG – ‘Un-Vintaged’
One of the biggest gripes about Nike’s ‘Vintage’ treatment of its shoes is that the pre-yellowing is almost unnecessary. While it does provide the ‘vintage’, beat-up sneaker look, that’s something that we can do on our own. By wearing them. Over time. The Air Jordan AJKO, for example, was a highly popular Jordan Retro in 2010 that many scrubbed down with various cleaning materials to make them white as new, and the same was done for the Nike Dunk Low VNTG in the ‘Ultraman’ colorway from the anticipated Be True To Your Street Pack. After a nice scrubdown with wet tissue, they cleaned up pretty well, don’t you think? Check out the full before-and-after below courtesy of Dunkbar and let us know if you’d consider giving them a clean. Want to give it a try? Cop a pair now on eBay. Via Sneaker News

Here We Stay: Sell out Arco on Feb. 28 - The in-game plan
Sacramento Kings fans are gathering support to sell out Feb 28th game in support of #HereWeStay. (an initiative to help keep the Kings in Sacramento). Don’t let another great fanbase lose their team.
As of yesterday there were only 2,000 tickets available for this game (Blake Griffin surely has something to do with this) but if you add our campaign and the donations we've gotten we are making that final push to sell out the game and show our support for our franchise.
Now we need to come up with ideas to make our presence felt inside Arco. I'm gonna throw some ideas after the jump and please do the same by dropping comments. We'll use the same format as for 'caption of the week,' whoever gets the most rec's we'll get the most consideration. Hopefully if everyone gets to contribute their ideas, I'll go to TZ and some of the Here We Stay folks to finalize this plan. The earlier we get this done the better as we'd have more time to prep and make sure this is a successful action. Read the rest at Sactown Royalty

JBF Customs x EmmanueLabor All-Star Game Custom Dunks
JBF Customs & EmmanueLabor just recently finished a beautiful collaboration featuring the Nike Dunk Low in an ASG theme. Both designed the sneaker together then went to work putting them together, JBF took care of the ‘East’ while EL took care of the ‘West’.

These are a 1 of 1 custom collab between the two artists and are now available to purchase. For $500 you can have one or the other (East of West) or you can have both for $800. Air Jordan XI Retro ‘Concord’ – Carbon Fiber
The Air Jordan XI is famous for introducing both patent leather and carbon fiber shank plates to basketball sneakers, but undoubtedly the former gets more attention than the latter. Typically, the only way to see the AJXI’s carbon fiber plate would be to pray you can see it from the medial side (or turning the shoe upside down would work just fine), but what if it played a more prominent role in the legendary sneaker’s design? Picking up where Sole Collector’s dope CMFT 11s left off, this Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ was spotted during the NBA All-Star weekend with the ultralight, ultra-strong material in place of patent leather on the mudguard. Now that we’ve seen a ’45′ sample and these bad boys, is getting the OG Concord as a retro release for the holiday season still the best of all possible worlds? Via Sneaker News

Sources: Kings consider relocation
The Sacramento Kings are seriously considering the possibility of applying to the NBA by the league's March 1 deadline for relocation to Anaheim for next season, according to sources with knowledge of the team's thinking.
The Kings haven't made a final decision, but sources said team officials have been in Orange County, Calif., this month to gather more first-hand data on the feasibility and potential obstacles involved in trying to move to Anaheim's Honda Center at season's end after a 26-season run in Sacramento and numerous failed attempts to secure the financing needed for the construction of a new modern arena.
NBA commissioner David Stern publicly confirmed for the first time Saturday night at his annual All-Star Weekend news conference that the Kings have had discussions with Anaheim officials about a possible move. Read more @ ESPN

Blake Griffin hits his head on the backboard
People use a lot of metaphors to describe incredible leapers: a guy can make change on the top of the backboard, kiss the rim, write his name on the backboard, or measure the dimensions on the square on the glass. OK, I made some of those up, but these sorts of sayings exist nonetheless. And while some seem goofy, they're usually grounded in real events, or at least legends based on things that exist in the world. Maybe Earl "The Goat" Manigault couldn't actually change dimes into nickels, but it's not as if people are suggesting he flew to the moon and threw a basketball at a passing flying saucer.
Wednesday night, Blake Griffin actually accomplished one of these cliches by hitting his head on the side of the backboard. Yes, you read that right, and it didn't occur as some kind of technicality like a graze or light tap. While going up for an alley-oop in the final minutes of the Clippers' 98-90 win over the Wolves, Griffin knocked into Minnesota forward Anthony Tolliver and cracked his head on the side of the backboard. The play didn't work as intended. But it's still one of the most incredible moments of what's already been an incredible rookie campaign for the All-Star. Click here to watch the video. Nike SB Dunk High QS - "Statue of Liberty"
Images of the already-popular "Statue of Liberty" SB Dunk High continue to surface. The shoe sports a seagrass green leather upper with a lighter mint green used for the tongue and laces. Providing a little vintage appeal is sail, which is used for the inner liner and sole. However, it's what lies beneath the surface that really makes this a special release.
When the top layer is scratched, a bronze colored under layer is revealed, symbolic of the oxidized defects of the actual Statue of Liberty. Other details include a Lady Liberty tongue badge and graphic work on the insoles. Look for these to hit your local skate shops in March. Via Sole Collector

Nike Air PR1 – Black – Dark Grey – Aqua
Its re-release last year contemporary with the Air Yeezy and Reebok’s Pump 20th Anniversary celebration, the Nike Air PR1 finds itself pressured to completely represent the Swoosh with this latest colorway. This new edition keeps the Air Pressure’s signature inflation valve (Insta Pump, anyone?) but by using the ‘Tiffany’ colorway and having its black base split between nubuck and Elephant print, these joints are closest to a pair of RT1s that dropped some eighteen months ago.
