Air Jordan Retro 1 – “Banned” – New Image

Back in August, we showed you a sample pair of the “Banned” Air Jordan Retro 1. Obviously, the colorway and concept acknowledge the fact that Michael Jordan was initially fined $5,000 for every game that he wore the Air Jordan I because they didn’t fall in line with the league’s standard uniform policy. Today, everybody’s favorite sneakerhead and CEO of the Terror Squad Fat Joe posted a new image of the “Banned” Retro 1, which is a little different from the sample pair.

No frills when it comes to the colorway. You’re looking at a simple retro of the original Black/Red Air Jordan I, with what appears to be a softer grade of leather than we saw on the sample. The “X” we saw placed over the Wings logo on the other pair appears to be missing from what we assume is the final product. What stands out the most is the apparent reproduction of the original Air Jordan I box for this release, replacing the Nike branding with the banned marking .

No word on an exact release date yet, but we’ll continue to keep you posted. Via Sole Collector
