Globetrotters unveil 4-point shot

The Harlem Globetrotters -- and the Washington Generals -- will both have a new offensive wrinkle when they begin their world tour later this year.

The 4-point shot will debut on Dec. 5, when the Globetrotters and Generals meet at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World in Florida (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN2). The shot -- from one of two designated areas about 35 feet from the basket on each half of the court -- is 12 feet longer than an NBA 3-point attempt.

It will next be seen Dec. 26, when the Globetrotters and Generals open a 220-city North American tour, which will see the teams in 46 U.S. states, plus six Canadian provinces. The tour -- the 85th in team history -- wraps up on April 17.

The Globetrotters have not lost to the Generals since 1971. Via ESPN

Rhymefest Announces New Reading Program 'CPR'

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Rhymefest has announced a new literacy program aimed at enhancing local Chicago youth's ability to read.

Rhymefest, born Che Smith, has launched the Catch People Reading (CPR) program, which will launch during the Christmas Holiday on the Southside of Chicago.

The rapper is hosting a book drive and is asking fans and community members to donate old books laying around the house, so they can be put to use by those in need of further education.

Literacy is the lifeline to our education system. Not only will CPR help bring literacy awareness to our youth but it will also encourage students to read over the holiday season," Rhymefest told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "Donated books from across the city will reach the inner city youth (coupled with exciting incentives designed by yours truly) to keep literacy alive."

Last month, Rhymefest teamed with fellow Chicago rap artist Lupe Fiaso to host the "Vote to Eat" Turkey Drive, which provided over 300 turkeys and cheesecakes to over 300 families on the West and Southside of Chicago during Thanksgiving.
