The Decision: Access to private parking @ Quicken Loans Arena DENIED
CLEVELAND -- There was a time when LeBron James' friends and associates were welcomed throughout Quicken Loans Arena. That apparently is no longer the case.
James was delayed in getting into the arena for the Miami Heat's shootaround Tuesday morning when he arrived with a driver and a second car at the entrance of the Cleveland Cavaliers' underground parking garage.
Cavs officials said James eventually was cleared to enter the building, but several people with him were not. The two cars then left, and James alone returned a short time later and was allowed in, officials said.
Cavs spokesman Tad Carper said visiting NBA players are not normally given private car access to the underground garage, but exceptions are made when requests are made in advance.
James, who regularly used a driver when going to shootarounds when he was a member of the Cavs, did not have permission.
Rumors quickly spread on Cleveland-area radio stations and via Twitter that the Cavs had denied James access to the building.
Carper, however, said James was allowed in once clearance was given by security. Via ESPN

Jordan CMFT Viz Air 13 – White – Italy Blue – Black
Jordan Brand‘s most famous shade of blue named for a longstanding European nation would have to be the French variety on one of 2003′s Air Jordan XII Retros, but here’s a look at another we wouldn’t mind seeing on a variety of models. The Italy Blue color that makes up the bottom and Air bubble frame on this Jordan CMFT Viz Air 13 makes for a summery addition to the otherwise white upper, a black tongue and sockliner furthering the high-contrast feel. With these joining along with what might be the highest quality run of white sneakers we’ve seen from a single year! Via Sneaker News

Mack 10 Settles Suit Over Studio Time [Update]
Despite reports by tmz.com, Mack 10 will not be heading to court anytime soon. The popular gossip site posted a story earlier today (March 28), stating that the West Coast rapper was being sued by Rodger Cater—the man that operates The Dogghouse Studio in California—for failing to pay about $2,000 in unpaid studio time. A rep for Mack told XXLMag.com that this suit is from a while back and has since been resolved. “Everything has been good with me and Mack 10,” Carter said. “Matter of fact, he has been at work in my studio for over a month now. There are no issues between us.” Mack is currently prepping the release of his new collaborative album with fellow Cali rapper Glasses Malone. The disc, titled Money Music, is set for a April 12 release. —Elan Mancini for XXL

Nike Dunk SB High ‘Hulk’ Look-See Sample
Here is a look-see sample of what could have been released in 2003. This Todd Jordan design looks almost identical to that of the released ‘Hulk’ Nike Dunk SB Highs with a nice twist. Leather instead of suede is what we could have ended up with, and it doesn’t look like your typical 2011 leather either… these have extremely soft premium wrinkled leather that I’m sure we all wished was still featured on today’s sneakers. It’s been rumored that there are less than 5 pairs of this sample worldwide, making this one of those rare gems that’s often unobtainable.
You can also make them yours by clicking HERE if you must have them in your SB lineup. Via Sneakerfiles

Arriving in Summer 2011 is the re-release of the Nike Air Trainer Max2 ’94. These first debuted in 1994, featuring the tweaked Air Max unit called Air Max2 and a breathable construction and unique upper construction that allowed for increased flexibility. Two colorways can be expected to release during the Summer season; for April, a White/Black-Varsity Red version will release yet again, followed by a White/Black-White colorway within the season. You might remember these making a comeback as recent as 2007 , but were not a top seller. Will the fate of the Air Trainer Max2 ’94 be any different in 2011? Via Sneaker News

Nike Set To Increase Prices
Nike is set to increase the cost of its products from sneakers to apparel “across the board”. The increase is set to begin with the company’s next financial year, Nike’s current financial year ends May 31st.
The sportswear company, which owns the Nike, Umbro and Converse brands, warned that the rising cost of cotton, oil and transportation will squeeze profit margins.
Nike’s chief financial officer Don Blair said in a conference call to analysts yesterday (18 March) that until now price increases had been in specific markets on particular product lines but from its next financial year prices would increase “across the board”. The company’s current financial year ends 31 May.
Blair was speaking as the company reported that net profit for its third quarter increased 5% to $523m. Revenue rose 7% to $5.1bn.
The gains were driven by a 21% revenue bump in China and a 19% gain in emerging markets, which partly offset a 2% fall in earnings from Western Europe. -Marketing Week & Sneakerfiles

Allen Iverson 'ready to go back'
Former NBA MVP Allen Iverson expects to receive medical clearance on Monday to resume playing after being sidelined for the past two months with a lesion in his right calf, says his business manager, Gary Moore.
"He's going to start rigorous training as soon as he has clearance," Moore said. "He's determined to get back to playing."
Iverson was playing with Besiktas, a Turkish League team, when he returned to the United States in January after tests showed a growth between the muscle and bone in his right calf. After consulting with several doctors, Iverson opted to have reputed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews attempt a non-surgical procedure that involved anti-inflammatory injections around the growth.
The procedure apparently worked. Iverson has been running and getting up shots for several days now, according to Moore, and will see Andrews Monday for a final examination.
Besiktas was 14-7 and in fifth place in Turkey's 16-team first division as of Friday, with nine regular-season games left. Moore said he has kept Besiktas' coaching staff apprised of Iverson's condition. Besiktas is 7-1 since Iverson's injury.
"He's ready to go back," Moore said. "He just needs the word from Dr. Andrews." Via ESPN

Supra ‘Navajo Pack’
What would happen if Nike Sportswear made an AC-version of the Big Nike High, complete with deconstructed build and an extra dose of attitude? It’d probably look something like the Supra Cuttler, a sleek hightop that occupies the space where the skateboarding and lifestyle sneaker venn diagram converges. This latest Cuttler colorway first popped up in our preview of Supra’s ‘Black and White’ pack around the turn of the year, but the ‘Navajo’ nickname fits its angular high-contrast pattern a bit better even if that’s an accurate description of the palette. Joining this new Cuttler is a pair of what can be seen as its lowtop counterpart, the Assault, plus the skate-oriented Skytop II. Maloof files trademark papers for "Anaheim Royals" name
A Sacramento attorney representing the Maloof family, owners of the Sacramento Kings, earlier this month filed federal trademark registrations for the names "Anaheim Royals" and "Anaheim Royals of Southern California." The lawyer also registered the names Orange County Royals and Los Angeles Royals on that same date.
The filings, listed on the United States Patent and Trademark Office website, are dated March 3, days after the National Basketball Association granted the Kings an extended period to consider moving the team to Anaheim for the upcoming season.
NBA Commissioner David Stern confirmed the Kings have been in talks with Honda Center officials in Orange County.
Kings officials have declined to discuss any potential move. The attorney who filed the trademark names, Scott Hervey, could not be immediately reached Wednesday afternoon. Hervey is listed in federal registries as the "correspondent" for the Maloof Cup, a skateboard competition run by Joe and Gavin Maloof, co-owners of the Kings.
Also, on Feb. 23, an unknown entity filed for control of the Internet domain names "anaheimroyals.com" and "laroyals.com."
The Kings have until April 18 to formally request the league allow it to move to a new city for the next season. Via Sacramento Bee

Nate Dogg, Voice of G-Funk, Dead At 41
One of rap's most lauded male hook singers, Long Beach, California native Nate Dogg (born Nathaniel Hale) died on Tuesday at the age of 41 after several years of health problems.
With his deep, melodic voice and smooth soul rumble, Dogg was one of the key elements in the rise of the West Coast G-Funk sound pioneered by Death Row Records in the early 1990s. Though overshadowed by such peers as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Warren G, Nate was a critical participant in a number of major left-coast gangsta hits, including G's "Regulate" and Dre's iconic solo debut, 1992's The Chronic.
Hale's death was first reported by the Long Beach Press Telegram, which noted that his family announced his death on Tuesday. The cause of death was not announced at press time, but Hale had struggled with serious health issues recently, including suffering a massive stroke in 2007 that left him partially paralyzed and another the following year. A spokesperson for the singer could not be reached for comment at press time for further details on his passing.
Hale was born in Long Beach on August 19, 1969, and dropped out of high school at 16 to join the Marines, where he served for three years. He formed the rap group 213 — a reference to the local area code — in 1991 with then unknown pals Snoop Dogg and Warren G. The group's demo eventually made its way to Dre, who liked Nate's sound and recruited him to participate on The Chronic.
Nate was a four-time Grammy nominee, earning his first nod in 1995 for the legendary Warren G collaboration "Regulate," followed by another in 2001 for providing a hook to the Dre and Snoop tune "The Next Episode." He earned his third notice in 2002 for singing on Ludacris' "Area Codes" and another in 2007 for his work on Eminem's "Shake That."
Though his instantly recognizable, laid-back sound blessed countless songs by other artists over the years, Dogg also released a number of solo albums, including 1998's double-CD G-Funk Classics Vol. 1 & 2 (featuring guest spots from Kurupt, Daz Dillinger, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Warren G), 2001's Music & Me and a self-titled 2008 effort.
Following news of Nate's passing, a number of his hip-hop brethren reflected on their fallen comrade. The news appeared to hit both Snoop Dogg and DPG member Daz the hardest.
"We lost a true legend n hip hop n rnb" tweeted Snoop. "One of my best friends n a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at poly high where we met. I love u buddy luv. "There is a certain void in hip hop's heart that can never be filled. Glad we got to make history together. RT @SnoopDogg: RIP NATE DOGG," tweeted Ludacris.
"I lost a friend," an emotional Game wrote on his Twitter account. "Been here before. Tears. Memories. One day someone will lose 'US' as well. LIVING until that day comes is our only option. R.I.P. Nate Dogg. Why does it take Death to remind us about the importance of life ??? Cherish every moment cuz tomorrow he mite call your #."
"We love you Nate Dogg, it's never going to be the same" West Coast rapper Xzibit added. Among the others who weighed in on Twitter were Erykah Badu, reclusive comedian Dave Chappelle, Murs and producer Fred Wreck. Via MTV.com

The latest Nike Air Max 95 news we brought our readers revolved around a smooth neutral grey/chlorine blue colorway that could very well sit well with several sneakerheads this spring/summer season. But Nike wants to show that it thinks of all its fans (and potential future ones as well). Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals JS Panda @ Fall/Winter 2011 Preview – Paris
When you see him posed in front of a classically styled fireplace framed in molded wood, rocking a matador jacket, crazy high contrast ObyO parachute pants and pink super-hightops, you don’t even need to notice the huge gold watch to know that Jeremy Scott is a guy who sets his own trends. He’s far from a follower, but J.Scott’s latest collaborations with adidas Originals keep his iconoclastic reputation alive with a wild array of kicks and clothing that are sure to draw polarized reactions. Air Jordan IX – Quentin Richardson Los Angeles Clippers PE
Third-year NBA pro Quentin Richardson‘s stock was rising in 2002-2003; after posting an impressive season the season prior, scoring 13.3 points off the bench for the young Los Angeles Clippers, Q-Rich was picked up by Jordan Brand as one of NBA future stars. He starred in a commercial with fellow teammate Darius Miles, sporting the Air Jordan XVII in a display of a two-man-game harmony like the flowing bars of jazz music. Sneaker News has been keeping you on top of the Air Jordan PE game and Quentin Richardson’s name has come up more than a few times, and here’s another one to add to that list. This Air Jordan IX PE features a snazzy red patent leather mudguard/upper with a white full-grain leather upper and a royal blue trim on the tongue and heel. Q-Rich’s ’3′ logo is stitched on the heel in blue, and the gum-like outsole even has a tinge of a varsity blue tone. Q-Rich has always been sought after for his 3-point acumen, but there’s no doubt his shoe game will leave you banging your head in jealousy. Check out the auction from johnsbargains on eBay. Nike Air Max Uptempo 97 – Black – Dark Grey
The mid-late 90′s classic Nike Air Max Uptempo 97 was re-issued in 2010 in a number of original colorways, much to the satisfaction of Nike heads around at that time. You just won’t find a Nike Basketball design like this, because today’s era of minimalism, lightness, and speed is a stark contrast to the full-length Air, TPU teardrops, and multi-layered upper construction. Fourteen years is indeed a long time and during that span Nike Basketball has evolved to what it is today, but it’s always nice to get a sniff of nostalgia in the form of a Nike Retro release. This Black/Dark Grey-Varsity Red colorway just dropped at Nikestore! Via Sneaker News
