(AllHipHop News) A Tribe Called Quest founding member Q-Tip has revealed he is not in support of an upcoming documentary on the legendary Hip-Hop group being directed by actor Michael Rapaport.
Q-Tip sent the tweet out on the heels of Beats Rhymes and Life being selected as one of the official films for the Sundance Film Festival.
The documentary focuses on the rise of A Tribe Called Quest, their reunification in 2008 at Rock the Bells and the differences between them, that ultimately caused a break up.
"I am not in support of the a tribe called quest documentary," Q-Tip tweeted. "The filmmaker should respect the band to the point of honoring the few requests that's was made abt the piece…the filmmaker shld respect the band enough to honor our request regarding the the film."
Rapaport filmed Beats Rhymes and Life over an eight month period, recording hundreds of hours of footage of group members Q-Tip, Phife, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi.
The movie will compete in the US Documentary category during the Sun Dance Festival, which takes place in several cities in Utah from January 20-30th. Via All Hip Hop
